Mavis didn't like being so sneaky all the time, but it wasn't fair that she never was allowed to leave the Hotel without her father, aunt or uncle. Her father was protective to a fault and she was feeling quite smothered. It was clear lately that she was antsy. She was no longer interested in running the Hotel. She didn't know what she wanted to do yet, but she did know that it wasn't managing a hotel for supernaturals.
<p>
It had recently gotten dark out and Mavis was determined to go out tonight, she only wished she knew people. A party would be just what she needed right now. She dressed up a little bit for once, hoping she would happen upon a party or a club tonight as she wandered. In a little black dress, she padded barefoot with her shoes and purse in hand out the front door. Her father was preoccupied, and to her knowledge, he was the only family member at the hotel right now.
<p>
It was supposed to be an easy sneak-out. As she exited the gate, she glanced back at the house suspiciously as she turned the corner. Because of that, she wasn't looking ahead of where she was walking. Glancing up at the last second, she barely had time to stop before they collided and it took her a moment to comprehend what had just happened after they halted. She hadn't been expecting to see her Aunt Morticia, that's for sure. "Uhh. . ." She started, trying to come up with an excuse at first. Unfortunately, she wasn't a good liar and in the end she just sighed and chose a different route; honesty. "Please don't tell Daddy. I'm twenty-two, I want to go to a club or party or bar." She frowned, she didn't want to go back into the hotel. Mavis was always in the hotel.

It had been a few months since Mavis had confided in her uncle that she was ready to get out of the house, to try standing on her own feet. Other than that, she really hadn't done a whole lot to make it happen if she was being honest. She hardly even knew where to start. Tired of her father's tired old lines about how it would be different when she was older, Mavis had started to rebel a bit lately. She may look like she just graduated, but she was twenty two already, a grown adult! Only, she didn't feel like one. Her father didn't treat her like one, and sneaking out like this didn't exactly make her feel like one.
<p>
Mavis moved quietly to the edge of the hotel's property and around another building before she dared to put her shoes on and then she began to walk, aimlessly. There was no set destination really, she just wanted to get out.
<p>
Mavis glanced around often as she wandered, afraid that at any time her father would come around the corner and lecture her about the dangers of the outside world and the threat that humans would pose to her if they knew of her condition. She was so busy looking around her that she was hardly looking in front of her and walked right SMACK into another young woman. Her already large eyes went wide and she squealed, startled before covering her mouth with her own hands. The darkly clad young woman took a couple steps backward to get a look at and some distance from the strange girl. "I uhh. . . I'm sorry." Her brows creased as she looked at the girl once more in concern that she may have harmed her. Reaching across herself, she rubbed her forearm bashfully. The initial fright over, she took a step forward again .
<p>
"Are you okay?"The young vampire grinned sheepishly at her, unintentionally flashing her fangs. "I guess I got distracted. I'm Mavis!" She introduced energetically. <p><p>

Mavis had been genuinely excited to come to the Muggle Markets, and with her father avoiding the event all-together she thought this might be a good time to breathe a little and roam. Her father was all she had and she didn't want to hurt him. But, she was an adult now, wasn't she? She had been for four years now and Castro kept her on as tight of a leash as ever.
<p>
The vampire's already big eyes were wide with excitement when she entered the event with her cousins and uncle. Soon though, it became apparent that nothing had changed. They may have been out of the hotel, but after not too long Wednesday disappeared and so did Pugsley. Curious, she turned a corner quickly. As expected, Gomez was watching and simply followed her. Rolling her eyes, she crossed her arms over her chest. "Oh, I see." She remarked, looking down in the ground. "You're babysitting me."
<p>
It was frustrating beyond belief to Mavis that at twenty-two, her father still had eyes on her at all times. The vampire girl looked away from her uncle pointedly. "This is supposed to be fun." She replied, applying far more guilt and snark than her Uncle truly deserved. After all, it was her father that had everyone worrying for her safety all the time.
<p>
Mavis sighed after a couple moments of angry silence. She then turned to look at him. "I'm sorry. . . It's not your fault. It's just. . . I'm twenty two." Her brows furrowed and she never uncrossed her arms. She didn't seem so angry anymore, just a little defeated. <p><p>

<h1>PERSONALITY</h1>
Mavis has a rather adventurous nature, she longs to see the world and to do new things. Curiousity often gets the best of her, and though her father keeps her rather sheltered she is a rather independent individual. That should not be mistaken for being un-sociable. In fact, she is a very outgoing people's person. She will talk to just about anyone and she always accepts someone for exactly what they are. After all, she knows a thing or two about not being accepted, being a former human that was bitten by a vampire.
<p>
She is a tad naive, having been pretty sheltered her whole life by her father Castro Dracura and uncle, Gomez Addams. She is bright and bubbly and oh so exciteable! Mavey would never hurt a fly and has the deepest of concerns for the well-being of others, even those who wish her harm. She is sincere and loving even though she can have a bit of an attitude with especially those she loves, as all teenagers do when they disagree with their guardian's rules.
<p>
Even though she is an adult technically she may not really have the life skills to fully care for herself on her own yet, due to her family's over-bearing protectiveness. She is rather gullible, often believing her father's elaborate and dramatic stories and schemes angled to make her fear humans in general, but especially Muggles. At the same time, Mavey carries with her a hopefulness and faith that humans, even if they are so awful, can change. She sees the good in everyone which could possibly put her in danger, but is possibly her most endearing trait. She views people different from her and new experiences/sights with such pure wonder and curiousity and even when she is afraid, she never resorts to animosity or violence. In the most dire of times would choose flight over doing harm to anyone.

<h1>HISTORY</h1>
EARLY CHOLDHOOD

Martha and Castro Dracura were a humble couple with a simple one bedroom home in a small Wizarding town of Sinaia, Romania. She was a Witch working as an Auror and he was a Wizard working in the Magical Being division of the Ministry. They were absolutely in love, and their relationship moved rather quickly from the start. Six months after beginning to date, Castro and Martha became engaged upon the discovery that Martha was pregnant. What would people think? They pushed the wedding back as far as possible to ward of suspicions but that only bought them another two and a half months after their engagement. Six months later, Mavis was born 'early'. Of course, people caught on. She was too big and too healthy to have been born 8 weeks early. Castro and Martha let them gossip, their life was perfect as far as they saw. Mavis Noemi Dracura was born on September 28th, 1999. She was actually right on her due date and they loved her more than they ever thought possible. That night, Martha made Castro promise that no matter what, he would protect Mavis always. He didn't see why it needed to be said, or the dark thoughts that made her ask it of him. It didn't matter, of course he would protect her. Although, he didn't yet know about the horrors of the world.
<p>
Mavis had a relatively normal childhood, showing her first signs of magic at age three when Castro cut himself chopping some vegetables. At first, she cried big fat tears over her daddy's wound but when he picked her up, she looked at the cut, her already large eyes as wide as they could go. When she finally reached out and touched it, it healed up instantly, This moment very much set Castro's expectations for the type of person she would be. This behavior continued throughout her early childhood on. If someone was hurt, she healed them. While Castro and Martha had expected much more of a bang when her magic came in, they couldn't say they weren't proud. Mavis' magic was never showy and except for the rare occasion which someone was hurt, she didn't have any magical outbursts at all.
<p>
Castro found out around this time that he had a half brother named Gomez. Castro met his brother a couple times before introducing Mavis and Martha to Gomez and his family. Mavis had always been a daddy's girl, but it was very clear that after spending just a little time with the Addams that Gomez had become her other favorite person in the world. After just that first day, she asked about 'Uncle Gomez' constantly.
<p>
When Mavis was four, Castro became head of the Magical Beings division and she was sent to a primary school/daycare for Wizards. The school was meant to teach them about magic from a young age, but it didn't really teach them too much about spells or potions themselves. They were all too young for wands and cauldrons. For the first few years it was mostly a daycare that they could leave Mavis at while they worked and there were kids like her there. Though she did learn about a handful of laws and regulations in the wizarding world that they hadn't even previously known themselves. She had always been rather bright, picking up easily on new things.
<p>
When Mavis was five, she caught Dragon Pox from one of the kids at her primary school and that's where Mavis' overbearing childhood started. Mavis nearly died and the scare caused her parents to remove her from society all together. Martha quit her job yanked her out of the primary school to stay home with her. Mavey, being the complete love that she was, didn't mind at all, though she missed her friends. Martha started keeping her close at all times, she was just trying to do her best and she honestly didn't think that sheltering Mavis could affect her in a negative way later on. Thankfully, Mavis made a complete recovery.
<p>
The Dracuras retreated from society stayed in their little bubble for a long time, keeping to themselves. Mavis was a daddy's girl, and she didn't want for more than to be with her family. Castro and Martha kept her sheltered from there on out, at first even trying to keep their family from her. This seemed to hurt and offend Gomez, understandably and that made Castro feel terrible. It wasn't long before Addams became the only exceptions to their rule. In attempts to keep her safe, no one else was to see her. At first she didn't mind, but soon she realized there was an outside world she wasn't allowed to see and she hated it. Whether it was her parents or Gomez and Morticia watching her, from the time she was seven to the time she was eight, they knew she was liable to try to escape the property. She could be in her house, her yard or the Addams' house or the Addams' yard. Mavey longed to do more and see more, but she was grateful for the little bit of leeway that she had gained from just her own house. Her parents were so afraid of losing her, that they forgot to let her truly live.
<p>
She eventually grew a little out of being a Daddy's girl and being satisfied with being at home or at Uncle Gomez' house all the time, but Castro kept her in the house and on a short leash still. It was around age ten that Mavis began to get relentless about it. This got worse after she received her acceptance letter to Durmstrang. Castro and Martha kept simply telling her that when she was eleven, she could go out. Only to Durmstrang, but that was a start right? After that, she decided to be patient.
<p>
Castro and Gomez often fought over what was best for Mavis. She didn't notice it when she was younger, but the closer she got to being a teenager, the more she noticed that her safety was always the topic. She couldn't understand why her family thought everything fun was dangerous, but this was all a sign that she had people that loved her, right? Mavis had always been a mild and obedient child, but one night, when she overheard her father arguing with Gomez about whether she should be allowed to go to Wizarding school, she felt hurt and she tried to sneak out. She wasn't sneaky enough to get past her father but she had made her point. "You Promised." She told her father, tears in her eyes as he caught her sneaking out the front gate of the Addams' yard. She didn't need to elaborate, he already knew that she had overheard his conversation. Her father tried telling her she wasn't ready, that she should stay home just one more year. She was done listening. She only muttered, "You promised." once more and took off running into the house.
<p>
Gomez knew where she was going, she went to the same place she always went to sulk at his house, the roof. It wasn't hard to guess why, she longed so much to see the outside world and in a way she could from there. When the window opened behind her she sniffled and tried to wipe her eyes. "Go away!" She responded with a teenage attitude they all thought they had a few years to prepare themselves for. He didn't leave, he climbed out onto the roof with her and listened when she cried about how unfair it was and how trapped she felt. Everyone but her left, why couldn't she? She was surprised to hear that her Uncle agreed with her and he said that he would talk to Castro. He saw how much it meant to her.

DURMSTRANG YEARS

Mavis had never seen Gomez so angry at her father than when he wanted to keep her from school, even though the isolation was clearly upsetting her. He was respectful, but firm in his belief that she should be allowed to go. He never relented and for that Mavis was extremely grateful. Someone was finally listening to her. She loved her parents dearly, really she did. But did they not understand that she wasn't a baby anymore?
<p>
Finally, Castro was convinced and Mavis was allowed to go. She was brilliant in school, making her way up to Set 1 with ease. Every letter she sent home was full of excitement and wonder, she loved it there. She found that she had a particular knack for flying and she was very interested in potions, though she wasn't as naturally good at that. When it came time for her first year to end, she didn't want to go home. She had to and she was afraid that she might not be allowed to return but upon returning home, Castro and Martha could see that she was thriving. They let her return for each year after that.
<p>
Mavis' excitable and sweet nature gained her a lot of friends and she excelled at flying, but her parents' teaching methods taught her to fear most things, what if she fell off her broom? It wasn't until the captain of the Set 1 team saw her flying for fun one day in her Fourth year that she was convinced to try out. She was fast, so he suggested seeker. She was a natural and in her Fifth year, she became a full roster seeker. She didn't tell her parents about her new position as seeker, not at first, not ever. Afraid that they would forbid her from doing it, she didn't even confide this in her Uncle. She knew he always meant well, but she didn't know that he wouldn't tell her parents right away. <p>
<p>
Mavis played quidditch as a Seeker for her last three years and while she didn't do so well with her OWLs, she doubled down on the studying in her Seventh year and excelled in her NEWTS, earning three O's and two E's. She graduated that year from Set 1 with absolutely no idea of what she wanted to do with her life. Of course, she didn't know how drastically her life would change in the next few months.

ADULT YEARS & VAMPIRISM

<p>
Mavis lived with her parents after graduating, she was rather directionless. Really directionless at first, her parents' oversheltering hadn't left her a ton of room to explore her interests, skills and the world. Even when she graduated and turned eighteen, Castro and Martha still treated her like a baby and to a certain extent, so did Gomez. It hadn't quite hit her yet that she actually was an adult, she still listened to her parents. It wasn't like she knew any better.
<p>
Unbeknownst to Mavis and even Martha, some of the work that Castro did in the Magical Beings division placed restricting laws on those creatures. The less sentient creatures would be none the wiser, but some of those creatures were a lot more like humans than he could have ever thought they would be. Understandably, they hated him. Though Castro worried about a lot of things, in a lot of ways he was just as naive as the daughter he oversheltered. He never thought that he and his family would be targeted.
<p>
A few months after Mavis turned 18, Castro and Mavis' lives were turned upside down. Castro had made some enemies in his job, most of them sentient magical beings. Truly, he wasn't trying to discriminate against them, he didn't particularly have anything against them, he was just trying to make the Magical World a better place for his family. If only he had known he would make things so much worse.
<p>
The small family was having dinner in there home, just the three of them for once when they started to hear strange noises outside. Castro left the table to go check it out, and against his request, Mavis trailed behind her. Her curious nature was what saved her. While the two of them walked out the front door to check out the strange noises, a vampire couple walked right into their back door and found Martha at the table by herself. They knew who she was to Castro and they wasted no time in draining her blood. Mavis and Castro, hearing her screams, returned to the home. It was too late to save her and the vampires turned on the two of them. To this day, they don't know if they meant to leave them alive (perhaps to teach Castro a lesson about making regulations targeting their families), if they heard someone approaching or if they simply thought them to be fully drained. Either way, the two of them survived, but they were transformed into Vampires themselves.
<p>
Luckily for them, Castro knew vampirism and the laws fully well and while his first thoughts were panicked and heartbroken when he realized his wife had not turned, he knew they needed animal blood before they hurt someone. They were grief-stricken, but they hunted and fed. When they were satiated, they tried to return to their home, to bury Martha, to live their lives as normally as possible. Castro couldn't physically bring himself to enter the home again, knowing he would never see his wife alive and well in that home again. Instead, they traveled to see the Addams.
<p>
They had to tell Gomez something, of course he was going to notice that they showed up looking paler and without Martha, not to mention, it was something that could be seen in their eyes. They weren't okay. Castro wasn't in a position to speak about it, he simply sat in the living room staring at the wall and it was left to Mavis to be an adult for the first time in her life. She didn't know how to handle it, she wasn't very good at it, but she did manage to get out to her Uncle that her mother was dead and they were vampires. Their family accepted them, just like they knew they would. The Addams weren't the type to turn their backs on family in need and when it was revealed that neither of them could bring themselves to go back into their home, Morticia and Gomez insisted they stay with them for the time being. Castro spent a lot of his time in the months to come crying and he doubled down on his protectiveness in some ways, but in others, Mavis actually flipped around to take care of him.
<p>
It was months before Castro was able to function at any capacity again, but when he finally tried to return to work he faced a lot of prejudice after being turned. It was decided that as a vampire, he was too biased to be Head of the Magical Beings division. Castro lost his job, which was a rather heavy blow after all he had been through. He was directionless for a bit, his family's generosity being his and Mavis' saving grace. Now in his position, he could suddenly see why the Vampires hated him. He had helped shape the negative view that the magical world viewed them in. Now, he was determined to undo it. He found some nothing, entry-level job in the ministry and, with the help of his family, he was able to save up for a down-payment on a place. The search for a new home began, Castro still unsure at this point about what he wanted to do. He didn't want to stay in his meaningless position forever.
<p>
Mavis went with him to every house showing, and sometimes other members of their family tagged along. A few weeks into their search, Mavis and Castro came across a listing for an old, run-down hotel. Jokingly, Mavis said that they should buy it, that they could turn it into a hotel for Magical Creatures and half-breeds. It was a joke that became a reality quickly. Once it was said, Castro latched onto the idea. On one hand, he figured he could keep Mavis safe inside it and on the other, it was a way to undo any injustices that he may have inflicted on said Magical creatures.
<p>
Castro put in an offer immediately and, since no one else actually wanted it, it was no surprise that he got the place. It would need a lot of work, but Mavis was glad to see her father passionate about something again. Castro and Mavis put in the work to get the place set up for operations and living in, but it became harder for them t do magic, so they did have to pay others sometimes and enlist help from their family. Three months in, they both had a bedroom and the kitchen and one bathroom were liveable. It was another six months before the first floor was done. The remaining two floors were unfinished, save for the two rooms in the top floor. They had been finished first, for Mavis and Castro.
<p>
They decided to open the hotel after the first floor was finished, silencing spells coming in really handy when they needed to continue renovations and not disturb their guests. The third floor took another six months, but the middle floor took more than 9 months. They had gotten the idea to dedicate a whole floor to Werewolves, at least for the week of the full moon. That meant that it had to be much more secure than the other two floors. It was more difficult and time consuming, especially when programming the lift to not stop at the second floor at certain times of certain days.
<p>
When it was all said and done, Mavis helped her father with operations. It started off slow, but within a few months it had become a popular place for sentient magical creatures to stay. Mavis can even recall a time when they has a Sphinx as a guest. When it started to look like Mavis wanted to take off on her own, Castro offerred her the position of Assistant Manager under the pretense that he needed her. Truthfully, he needed her to stay at the hotel, where he could protect her always. It's been three years since she accepted the job and while she loves it, she knows it's not what she's meant to do. Lately, she has begun to suspect her father's real reasoning for offering her the job. She wants to find her passion, but her father is still dedicated to smothering her.
<p>
Mavis hasn't spent a lot of time with Humans since her father was ousted by them in the Ministry. Though she is very intelligent, she is often rather gullible and naive, believing way too many of her father's so-called horror story encounters with humans. It would never occur to her that he was being dramatic or his stories weren't true. Truthfully, at this point, she somewhat fears humans, but she doesn't hate them. A lot like how Castro couldn't hate the vampires, Mavis can't bring herself to hate even beings that threaten her safety/life.

<p>

<h1>CONNECTIONS</h1>
I made Mavis and Castro bitten vampires in order to allow them to be father and daughter, all while making Mavis a vampire with the ability to have her son Dennis, later on in life. Also, in canon she was a born vampire, which is not playable so the closest thing would be bitten.
<p>
I chose to give her dragon pox as a child to create a tragic event that triggered her parents' insanity when it comes to protecting her.
<p>
I chose to have her turned and lose her mother to vampires at age 18 instead of being born a vampire and losing her mother to fire/humans when she was a baby so that she would not be frozen as a child forever, but instead frozen at an age comparable to her Canon character's age maturity wise. While Mavis was 118, Drac treated her like she was just 18. That is also why I had her bitten at age 18, to keep her at that age physically for a while.
<p>
I chose to have her mother die because she was killed by humans in canon. It was vampires that killed her mother in Bombverse instead of Humans because she resembles much more of a bitten vampire than a born vampire in this universe, so instead of humans killing her mother because they were vampires, I chose to make that event the night they became vampires, but her mother didn't.
<p>
I chose to have Dracula be head of Magical Beings division to give him a viable connection to vampires. While in canon, they never say that he did anything other than run the hotel, I thought that Magical Beings would be a horribly ironic line of work. I also chose for his regulations to negatively affect these creatures so that he would be targeted, but also so that he later understands what he has done and has motivation to bring Hotel Transylvania to life.
<p>
I chose to plot with mara/Data about making them related to the Addams because in canon they have an extended, very eccentric family of magical beasts/creatures and the Addams. . . Are close enough lol.
<p>
Castro's promise to protect Mavis is awesome foreshadowing, but is also something that Martha asks of him in canon when she is born.
<p>
I chose for her to have a relatively normal very early childhood because there is a lot of time in canon in which Mavis and Castro are best friends and I don't want to paint him as an overbearing monster, but at the same time, most of his controlling/protective behavior is right out of canon.
<p>
Mavis' curious nature and insistence on going into the outside world is something that she struggles a lot with in canon and in canon, Drac promises her that she can leave at 118, which is a major mark in the Vampire world, I guess. On Bomb, I chose for her promised leaving date to be when she's 11 and begins to attend Durmstrang because that is much more of a staple milestone in this universe.
<p>
Dracula tried to keep Mavis from Durmstrang, just like he tried to keep her from leaving in canon when she was 118. In both, Mavis gets offended and hurt, she wants so badly to see the world. The only difference is on Bomb, Drac did not set up an entire fake village to scare her home. He just hoped that Durmstrang students would do that. In both, although Mavis can be scared of the unknown (and that's a lot), she doesn't give up easily. When she is discouraged/afraid or is teased in school, she keeps to herself for a bit and puts herself back out there. In canon, after the fake village, she is scared but she eventually comes around, thinking that humans deserve a second chance.
<p>
I chose for her first magic sign to be healing because of her gentle and caring nature. In canon, she is worried about the safety of even those attacking her. When in the fake village, monsters dressed as an angry human mob caught themselves on fire and even in her fear, she worried for them. "Oh! You're on fire. . ." She said, and then proceeded to try to help for a moment before they continued to move in on her angrily.
<p>
I chose to make her Set 1 because she is a very curious and passionate individual. After finally being allowed out of the house to attend school, she wanted to soak up as much as she could. She applies herself to whatever it is she's doing, be it Raising Dennis, school or running the Hotel.
<p>
I chose for her to excel at flying and quiddich because she would love being up in the air for the view and I chose for her not to tell her parents or uncle about quidditch because, when you're as sheltered as she was, you inevitably hide things.
<p>
Castro lost his job because of his Vampirism because I needed something for him to latch onto and blow out of proportion about humans, so that he could instill fear in Mavis about humans like in Canon.
<p>
I chose for her to be directionless because she never really had the chance to explore her interests in canon. She went from oversheltered kiddo to mom and I would love to see what she's actually passionate about besides her family. I'm also interested to see what kind of direction she gets pulled in in this universe.
<p>
For the wand I decided on Ash wood because of it's stubborn and not easily swayed nature/will (so Mavis) and I picked Phoenix Feather because she and that core share something in common in the fact that they often act of their own accord, much to other's distaste (her father's in her case, hers in the wand's case)
<p>
Mavis is getting antsy about leaving now, because that's exactly how she was in the first movie.

After all, she knows a thing or two about not being accepted, being a Dhampir.
<p>
<p>
<p>

<h1>HISTORY</h1>
EARLY CHOLDHOOD

Martha and Castro Dracura were a humble couple with a simple one bedroom home in a small Wizarding town of Sinaia, Romania. She was a Witch working as an Auror and he was a Wizard working in the Magical Beast division of the Ministry.
<p>
<p>
<p>
When Mavis was four, Castro became head of the Magical Beasts division and she was sent to a primary school/daycare for Wizards.
<p>
<p>
<p>
<p>
<p>

<p>
<p>
<p>

<p>
<p>
Unbeknownst to Mavis and even Martha, some of the work that Castro did in the Magical Beasts division placed restricting laws on those creatures.
<p>
A few months after Mavis turned 18, Castro and Mavis' lives were turned upside down. Castro had made some enemies in his job, most of them sentient magical beasts. Truly, he wasn't trying to discriminate against them, he didn't particularly have anything against them, he was just trying to make the Magical World a better place for his family. If only he had known he would make things so much worse.
<p>
<p>
<p>
<p>
It was months before Castro was able to function at any capacity again, but when he finally tried to return to work he faced a lot of prejudice after being turned. It was decided that as a vampire, he was too biased to be Head of the Magical Beasts division.
<p>
<p>
<p>
<p>
<p>

<p>

<h1>CONNECTIONS</h1>
I made Mavis and Castro bitten vampires in order to allow them to be father and daughter, all while making Mavis a vampire with the ability to have her son Dennis, later on in life.
<p>
I chose to give her dragon pox as a child to create a tragic event that triggered her parents' insanity when it comes to protecting her.
<p>
<p>
I chose to have her mother die because she was killed by humans in canon.
<p>
I chose to have Dracula be head of Magical Beasts division to give him a viable connection to vampires. While in canon, they never say that he did anything other than run the hotel, I thought that Magical Beasts would be a horribly ironic line of work. I also chose for his regulations to negatively affect these creatures so that he would be targeted, but also so that he later understands what he has done and has motivation to bring Hotel Transylvania to life.
<p>
I chose to plot with mara/Data about making them related to the Addams because in canon they have an extended, very eccentric family of magical beasts and the Addams. . . Are close enough lol.
<p>
Castro's promise to protect Mavis is awesome foreshadowing, but is also something that Martha asks of him in canon when she is born.
<p>
I chose for her to have a relatively normal very early childhood because there is a lot of time in canon in which Mavis and Castro are best friends and I don't want to paint him as an overbearing monster, but at the same time, most of his controlling/protective behavior is right out of canon.
<p>
Mavis' curious nature and insistence on going into the outside world is something that she struggles a lot with in canon and in canon, Drac promises her that she can leave at 118, which is a major mark in the Vampire world, I guess. On Bomb, I chose for her promised leaving date to be when she's 11 and begins to attend Durmstrang.
<p>
<p>
<p>
I chose to make her Set 1 because she is a very curious and passionate individual. After finally being allowed out of the house to attend school, she wanted to soak up as much as she could. She applies herself to whatever it is she's doing, be it Raising Dennis, school or running the Hotel.
<p>
I chose for her to excel at flying and quiddich because she would love being up in the air for the view and I chose for her not to tell her parents or uncle about quidditch because, when you're as sheltered as she was, you inevitably hide things.
<p>
Castro lost his job because of his Vampirism because I needed something for him to latch onto and blow out of proportion about humans, so that he could instill fear in Mavis about humans like in Canon.
<p>
I chose for her to be directionless because she never really had the chance to explore her interests in canon. She went from oversheltered kiddo to mom and I would love to see what she's actually passionate about besides her family.
<p>
For the wand I decided on Ash wood because of it's stubborn and not easily swayed nature/will (so Mavis) and I picked Phoenix Feather because she and that core share something in common in the fact that they often act of their own accord, much to other's distaste (her father's in her case, hers in the wand's case)
<p>
Mavis is getting antsy about leaving now, because that's exactly how she was in the first movie.
