It was a bit odd for Brayden to not be at St. Mungo's at this time of day. He spent almost all of his time there doing what he could to make other people's days better. But with the internships concluded for the school year and things returning to their normal level of business, a letter had ended up in his office, amid the memos that try as he might would never make neat piles.
So instead of being at St. Mungo's in his scrubs with cup of coffee number three for the day, Brayden was headed towards the lifts with the hem of his lime green robes fluttering behind him in his wake, cup of coffee number three in a travel cup rather than his mug. He didn't entirely care for the robes, but he was at the Ministry. Here formality mattered.
"Hold the lift, please!" he called. He was not fast, and he definitely didn't want to be late to see the Education Department officials.

Vanesa used to make a point of being on time (unless the event called for her to make a point of being late), but now that her hands were full, that was not always the case.
This was one of those days where the twins had not woken her up before her alarm, so she slept. And the alarm did not go off. Thankfully, her children had her up after - but it was still significant enough that she had to somehow manage to get to work in a decent time and get her children to a sitter. So she was not entirely put together when she arrived at the Ministry.
In fact, Vanesa had just made it into the elevator as someone asked for her to hold it - so she dropped the hand trying to fix her ponytail and did just that.
"Close call," she commented.
