Adrian stood in the hallway outside the office of one of the beast linguists of the department he worked in. He idly chewed on the inside of his lip as he considered just going on this mission by himself, the way he thought it needed to be done. If he had his way, he would travel alone and eliminate the issue, but that wasn’t how the head of the land division was wanting things done. Apparently reasoning with beasts was an option now. Which was what had landed him where he currently stood.
<p>
Pushing the door open, his blue eyes fell on the woman sitting at the desk. Dark hair, but not too dark. Pale skin, but not as pale as his own. “You the one that speaks the animal languages?” he asked as if he had absolutely no clue who he was talking to.

<h1>Basics</h1>

<h2>Name</h2> <h3>Adrian Nethaniel Faign<br>

<h2>Age</h2> <h3> Nine Hundred Seventy (June 1, 1047)</h3>
<h2>Member Group</h2> <h3>Ministry</h3>
<h2>Pref. Pronoun</h2> <h3>He/Him</h3>

<h2>Occupation</h2> <h3>Hitman/Ministry Worker</h3>
<h2>Workplace/School</h2> <h3>Ministry of Magic, Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures</h3>

<h1>Magic</h1>

<h2>Blood Status</h2> <h3>Dhampir, a human-vampire hybrid. </h3>
<h2>Wand</h2> <h3>Blackthorne Wood, Thestral Tail Hair, 14 inches.<br>
It should be noted that while Adrian does have a wand, he prefers to let his magic occur in a more ‘pure’ form - which would be the unchecked emotional outbursts.</h3>
<h2>Boggart</h2> <h3>When confronted with a boggart, Adrian would see a wildfire - or as large of a wildfire that a single boggart could create.</h3>
<h2>Patronus and memory</h2> <h3>Adrian’s patronus has an incorporeal form because he has not managed to cast a legitimate patronus despite his many years. If he were able to cast it, though, it would be a Thestral in an eerily dark silver hue. The memory associated with being able to produce even the incorporeal shield-type patronus is his time spent with his mother as a child - afternoons in the garden for herbology lessons spent in the shade where he wouldn’t be harmed, late nights in the tallest tower learning to identify the constellations and visible planets. Any good memory that he can immediately recall has to do with his mother.</h3>
<h2>Dementor-induced memory</h2> <h3>Unfortunately for Adrian, one of his worst memories also has to do with his mother, the day she was killed. There are also many other flashes that would occur if he were in the presence of a dementor. Flashes of what occurred in the abandoned castle, flashes of wars. Dementors, though, seem to act confused around Adrian (if soul-sucking creatures could have such an emotion as confusion). </h3>
<h2>Mirror of Erised</h2> <h3>The Mirror of Erised doesn’t exactly work well on Adrian, but if he stood there long enough, he would see himself as a child, with his mother and father standing rather proudly with him.</h3>

<h1>DEPTH</h1>
Alignment: Chaotic Evil (Chaotic Neutral when on official Ministry business)<br>
Height: 5 foot 9 inches<br>
Weight: 155 pounds<br>
Notable Possessions: Adrian has this thing about a charm that had belonged to his mother. He wears it embedded in a wristband and can often be seen fiddling it it. Like the token charm, Adrian is in possession of a very important ring with this insignia, and he twirls it on his finger when idle.<br>
Habits: Fiddles with the ring he wears. Sticks to the shadows most of the time. Almost always has background noise going, whether it’s coming from a television, a radio, or headphones.<br>
Likes: The twenty-first century. Technology. His job. Blood. Violence. (Both of which have a tendency to play into him liking his job.) High-dollar technology. Killing. (His bloodlust can be a bit of an issue.) Women. Loud music. <br>
Dislikes: Purists. Technomagic. People's’ inability to use simple things like turn signals or the crosswalk. Music from the century he was born. Music from the 800 years that followed. His father. Steampunk fashion. Vampire cultists (to clarify, this means humans that idolize vampires but can also mean vampires that idolize vampires as well). The Ministry most of the time.<br>
Fears: Adrian doesn’t have many fears, but he does have one main one: fire. There are some things that are just ingrained into a child’s brain to fear, mostly due to bad personal experience or something along those lines. Watching his own mother be crucified and burned alive instilled a fear of fire into Adrian. He does not have candles in his home. If he must be around a fire (bonfire, fireplace, candles, etc) then he will keep quite the distance away from it.<br>
Dreams: His entire original reasoning behind wanting to fight in the crusades. Adrian wanted to prove to himself and to his father that he was capable of helping out on the revenge quest. He is not sure if he has managed to do so yet. <br>
Goals: To make a name for himself. <br>
<p>

<h1>APPEARANCE</h1>
Brown hair, clear blue eyes that sometimes go red.
<p>
Hailing from a Transylvanian heritage, Adrian often explains that he is Romanian - as it is both easier to explain away and something that modern day people don’t quite question as much as they would if he went around claiming that he was Transylvanian. His dark hair contrasts nicely with his pale skin and pale eyes, hair that he inherited from his father and eyes that he inherited from his mother.
<p>
He appears to be a wizard only recently returned from spending a year or two traveling and seeing the world, which gives him quite the advantage in his opinion. Hardly anyone would suspect that the man who looks like he’s barely finished puberty would be able to take down a full-blooded vampire independently - without much use of magic. Or a werewolf, for that matter.
<p>
But despite his younger appearance, his eyes have the ability of giving away that feeling that there just isn’t something right about the blue-eyed man. His eyes have been described as weary if he begins thinking about the past, or if he hasn’t actually gotten to rest properly, then his eyes betray that he is much older than he seems.
<p>
Adrian would hardly ever be caught wearing anything that would be considered ‘common’ by the magical community. He doesn’t wear the robes, he doesn’t wear the pointy hats, and he certainly wouldn’t dare have anything to do with a cauldron. He prefers to dress ‘muggle casual’, even in the Ministry - especially in the Ministry - but there have been a few times when he has ‘dressed up’ because the job called for him to do so. And he hated every minute of it.
<p>

<h1>PERSONALITY</h1>
Personality Type: ISTP <br>
Character Strengths: Optimistic. Energetic. Creative. Practical. Spontaneous. Rational. Knows how to prioritize. Great in a crisis. Relaxed.<br>
Character Weaknesses: Stubborn. Insensitive. Private. Reserved. Easily bored. Dislikes commitment. Displays risky behavior.<br>
<p>
One of the few (non-combat related) things that Adrian seemed to inherit from his father was the ability to remain fairly cool and collected, regardless of what circumstances he finds himself in. This isn’t to say that Adrian isn’t capable of being upset or unnerved, but after a certain amount of times, some things simply lose the ‘shock value’ that other people would typically experience.
<p>
For a vampire, Adrian can be surprisingly easy to be around. He has always had a tendency to be a bit of a goofball, stemming from when he was a boy – a trait that his mother nurtured and encouraged. He likes making people laugh, and if he sees the chance to use a pun, he’ll take the opportunity and run with it.
<p>
Quite the host, he enjoys entertaining friends and acquaintances in the various houses he has across the nation (and the world, if we’re being completely transparent here).
<p>
Adrian benefits greatly from his not-so-tall stature and his near childlike appearance. He doesn’t appear to be threatening in any way, shape, or form. He knows how to completely control the monster within him, a skill that not many vampires can lay claim to.
<p>
He is eerily detached from any family of any kind, as well as any form of killing he does. It doesn’t bother him as it would a normal person – well, it doesn’t bother him anymore. Once upon a time, it made him nauseated, the idea of taking another life. Now he practically doesn’t care.
<p>
When Adrian does decide to, for the lack of a better word, ‘unleash’ the monstrosity that his father inadvertently passed on to him, the switch isn’t noticeable at first, with the first sign being his eyes only briefly flashing an almost glowing red color. Those who know him well might see the tilt of the head, the raise of the brows, and heed the warning. Those who don’t… end up dead.
<p>

<h1>HISTORY</h1>
”To think, such an Unholy union could produce such a beautiful specimen.”
<p>
Words could not have described how excited the Unnamed One and his human bride were when they realized that she was with child. The pregnancy was a happy and healthy one, without complications or anything else that would be a sign that the offspring would be anything but human. On a warm early summer’s night in the year 1047, Adrian was brought into the world with the assistance of a midwife. He was a little cooler to the touch than what the midwife was used to when delivering babies, but other than that, the infant seemed to be perfectly healthy.
<p>
About the time that the boy was weaned from his mother, he began showing signs that the Unnamed One knew all too well. Soon it was realized that Adrian was a Dhampir, a vampire like himself, and would need blood to sustain him. The Unnamed One was more than happy to see to it that his son got what he needed to survive and grow, but not too much to perhaps incite a bloodlust that he hoped would not pass on to his child.
<p>
Adrian grew up in a castle on the moors of Transylvania, the only other people he interacted with on a daily basis other than his parents were the various servants on the grounds and their families, and other individuals that had gained both his father’s trust and approval. His father, the Unnamed One, was loving but stern with the boy, teaching him how to fight and live with honor. But his mother, Aldina, was the one that Adrian gravitated towards the most. She taught him about the importance of nature, and they spent many hours in the garden. A witch with a penchant for herbology, Adrian’s mother was thrilled when her son began showing signs of magic at a young age.
<p>
Aldina’s patience and kindness taught him to value life, and to have an appreciation for the world around him. She read stories to him that let him go on adventures without ever leaving the comfort of the castle’s grounds, and it wasn’t uncommon to find Adrian re-enacting stories his mother had read to him. One of his favorite games to play with his mother (and occasionally his father if convincing could be done) was hide and seek in the castle, a game that Adrian excelled at. He knew the castle inside and out, second only to the builder himself.
<p>
While Aldina had attended Hogwarts, she was hesitant to allow Adrian to attend. The world was a scary place for witches and wizards, and with Adrian being half-vampire, she couldn’t stand to think of the sort of teasing or ridicule that could befall her son. She convinced the Unnamed One to let her teach their son about magic at home, where she knew he would be safe from teasing words and prying eyes.
<p>
By the age of fifteen, it was apparent that Adrian was no longer a mere child. He had visited the nearby village with his mother several times, avoiding contact with others his own age and clinging to his mother’s side. His social life was quite restricted, not because his parents were controlling, in his opinion at the time, but he didn’t want for playmates. Not really. He had his parents, he had the castle. He had the various servants and others that his father trusted. He knew of the world outside the walls of the castle grounds, but he didn’t know how dark the world could be.
<p>
One winter night, Adrian heard commotion outside in the garden. Thinking it was only his mother working later than normal, the boy walked into the garden and froze, immediately slipping out of sight of those in the garden but remaining where he could still see what was going on, bright blue eyes staring at his mother, bound and gagged, and a handful of people that he didn’t recognize. She was dragged out to the village, hanging her from a wooden cross, a fire lit almost instantly at her feet. It was then that Adrian cried out for his mother, calling for her from where he hid, foolishly stepping out into the open, the only thing that he could look at was his mother hanging from a cross being burned alive…
<p>
Once the villagers were satisfied with Aldina’s fate, they turned their sights on Adrian, who had come to stand at the foot of the cross, mesmerized and terrified. Get the boy! echoed through the square and seemed to pull the boy from his trance, wild eyes wide as he spun around, the villagers advancing. Could he run? Where would he go? His mother… his mother was here – he couldn’t leave her! The Unnamed One appeared, drawn by his son’s cries, stricken with grief and… rage… at the sight of his bride upon the cross. It was the first time that Adrian remembered seeing his father act like the monster he apparently was.
<p>
Only a few days after his mother’s death, in the year 1062, Adrian was taken to the house of a man the Unnamed One saw as a trusted friend, leaving the responsibility of his son with a human, practically entrusting Adrian’s life to his friend. Adrian didn’t want to stay with this strange man and his family. He wanted to go with his father, and he wanted to help. He knew that his father would be going after the people who killed his mother and he wanted revenge just as much as his father did.
<p>
The man, Rada, wasn’t really so strange. He had worked in the castle that Adrian grew up in, his wife and daughters helping in the kitchen. The small family was aware of what Adrian was, knowing that he needed blood, and the man seemed to have no qualms about attaining enough each month. However, there would be days on end that Adrian would not be in the house, leaving the man to be very worried about Adrian’s whereabouts in the off chance that the Unnamed One would return with his son nowhere to be found.
<p>
Adrian spent those days in the castle he’d grown up in, grieving, sleeping, and wishing he were dead alongside his mother. Mother dead, father gone, what was he to do now? Sure, the Unnamed One came to visit often, but they weren’t really visits. His father just wanted to make sure that Adrian was still alive before leaving again. The first few times, Adrian had hoped his father would take him, and they could hunt down his mother’s killers together, but every time the answer was no, Adrian could feel a part of himself fading away.
<p>
The first time he killed on his own was when someone was on the castle grounds and should not have been, which he patrolled at least once a week, if not more. He was sixteen years old and shouldn’t have been wandering around the now-abandoned castle in the slightest. It had been a few days since he had made a round of the once-familiar dwelling place, and he certainly hadn’t expected anyone to be stupid enough to actually squat in such a cursed place, if the rumors were to be believed. Caught by surprise, Adrian had no chance to fight off his attacker, despite the training he had done with his father in the years prior. He does not talk willingly about what happened in the darkness of the ruined castle, of the helpless feeling that he experienced, of the pain and the anger that coursed through his body as a man he had never seen before in his life took advantage of a boy wandering around his old home.
<p>
Looking back on the memory, Adrian’s sure he didn’t look half the monster that his father had, but to the young boy, it certainly felt monstrous. Adrian lashed out after his attacker was finished with him, eyes glinting with an unholy red hue that took his attacker by surprise. Using that moment of distraction, Adrian went after the man’s throat at first, before using one of the many swords on display, impaling the man’s pelvis and pinning him to the stone beneath him. Taking the opportunity as it presented itself, Adrian fed on the fresh corpse and then disposed of the remains.
<p>
He immediately returned to Rada’s house and hid what he had done. He burned the clothing he had been wearing, cloth so saturated with blood that there wasn’t a chance of him being able to get the stains out. The body had been dumped in the vast woods that surrounded the castle. Wolves and other wildlife would soon take care of its disposal.
<p>
After this, his behavior shifted. He’d had a taste of fresh blood, and it didn’t take long for a bloodlust to begin growing within him. Rada noticed this change in the boy, and while he knew better than to blatantly say something about it,
<p>
During one of his father’s visits nearly a decade after his mother’s death, the Unnamed One came bearing a gift for his son, a ring of purest metals that bore a crest upon it that Adrian had only seen on tapestries in the castle as a child. There was no explanation given as to why the Unnamed One would give him such a trinket, and Adrian wasn’t one to question things by this point. It was the first time his father had visited in quite a while, his check ups stretching farther and farther apart until years separated them.
<p>
He stayed with Rada through several walks of life. He was there when his daughters grew up and married off, moving away to be with their husbands, eventually having children of their own that came and visited grandparents. For nearly fifty years, Adrian remained with Rada until eventually Rada and his wife passed away, leaving the estate to their children and their children’s children. The year was 1095, and there was talk of war brewing in Europe. Adrian returned to the castle under the cover of night, collecting a few things that he would need for the next however long his life lasted. He didn’t look a day over the age of twenty, even though he was nearing his forty-eighth year.
<p>
By the time he had turned half a century old, Adrian had already spent a year at war, participating in the First Crusade. Even though he gathered that the general population of Europe must be painfully stupid for fighting over such things as what the war seemed to be about, he went on to take part in the Second and Third crusades. Only being able to fight in the dark was both a blessing and a curse. He moved stealthy at night, able to take out half an encampment before the generals realized what was going on, but he believed he could do so much more damage if he could work during the day as well. During the Livonian Crusade, Adrian spent the better part of another fifty years swapping sides of the war however he saw fit, often wiping entire battlefields in a span of a few days.
<p>
As much as he wasn’t a fan of it, and as much as he was capable of fighting when the sun was up, only fighting during nighttime was beneficial for the myth that seemed to follow him. Because he wasn’t affiliated with any of the known countries fighting, he would often disappear for weeks or months on end, only to show up when people seemed to have forgotten him. During the Livonian Crusade, he participated in both the Fourth and Fifth Crusades. The Fourth ended in the year 1204 with the Byzantine Empire being crushed and Adrian finally decided that the Danish were most definitely more annoying than the Swedes by the time the Fifth Crusade rolled around in the year 1213.
<p>
By the Sixth Crusade, Adrian was getting tired of fighting for a ‘God’, as if the past one hundred and fifty years had been exciting… He had been able to kill as he pleased, being able to get his fill of both the bloodlust and the blood to sustain himself without leaving any evidence that it was a vampire doing the killing. Anyone he fed from was adequately destroyed, seeming to have simply dropped off the face of the earth. The last Crusade he took part in was the Bosnian Crusade, and that was only because he was more amused by the country’s name being Hungary than he cared about who won the war, and he swapped sides often.
<p>
In the year 1250, at the age of two hundred and four, Adrian was too busy ignoring the Seventh Crusade (and all that followed after). He had decided to spend time traveling Europe. After all, he had just spent almost a century and a half fighting for countries he barely knew. He aimed to rectify that. There were a few who thought they could approach him to ask him to side for different countries, and these poor unfortunate souls assisted in Adrian being able to sustain both the bloodlust that he suppressed, and his need for blood.
<p>
Then without a word, he disappeared. For six hundred years, whispers of the legend known only as Alucard traveled around the world, cropping up in places of civil war or political unrest. Anywhere a copious amount of blood was shed, the stories were soon to follow. Rumors, of course. There was not always a connection made between the wars fought and the ghost of a man that they were supposedly about. Decades went on without word of him, or what had become of the ghost known only as Alucard.
<p>
During this time, Adrian began looking for his father, following any leads that he was able to find by returning to the castle he had grown up in. Much of the wealth that he had accumulated during the Crusades was put to use either in Adrian’s travels or paying for information as people were not always so willing to tell him what he wanted to know. These searches and investigations proved useless, and after centuries passed, he gave up. Perhaps the Unnamed One was dead, either because of war or because those that had killed his mother had gotten to his father as well. If that were the case, Adrian was surprised that nobody had come after him yet - but then again, he was a bit difficult to track, not to mention difficult to confront.
<p>
In 1692, the wizarding world took on what was called the Statute of Secrecy. He could no longer go around as he had been for the past nearly six hundred years. There were rules now, and as a good soldier in any situation, Adrian adapted and chose to keep to himself rather than make himself known to the wizarding world. Not yet, at least.
<p>
He could have easily resisted the draft into the First World War, but he had been idle (by his terms) for too long. Adrian accepted, joining a special forces unit, most of the other members having absolutely no idea the kind of power they fought beside. One member of the group, however, a warlock named Wilhelm, over time figured out what Adrian was and shielded him from the repercussions of any Ministry of Magic finding out that a vampire was on the loose. After the war ended, Adrian was approached by Wilhelm’s own team wanting to utilize his special ‘talents’ to give the highest bidder an edge that no other country or group of countries would have. This came at quite the price for the magical mercenary group involved in his hiring, but Adrian continued to do what he had done for hundreds of years. Kill.
<p>
After this, the Ministry of Magic took notice of him, coming face to face with him when a member of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, specifically the Being Division, managed to track him down. This man, Malachi, had been researching and following the rumors of Alucard and had noticed that the ghost’s method of operation seemed to have reappeared during the Great War. Malachi’s ancestors had fought in the Crusades as well, and finding the source of the legendary Alucard drove many of his ancestors to madness, the obsession traveling from one generation to the other.
<p>
Adrian was, apparently, in violation of many things - including but not limited to copious amounts of manslaughter, drinking human blood, using magic (in a sense) around muggles. It helped his case a little bit that the muggles couldn’t remember the magic done around them, but it definitely didn’t help his case if they couldn’t remember because they were dead. Instead of trying to exterminate him, though, Malachi, as the head of the Department, had a different idea, absolutely enthralled that he had been able to finish his ancestor’s work of tracking down Alucard. Since Adrian was allegedly so good at whatever it was he claimed to do, he suggested that Adrian work with the United Kingdom’s Ministry, as that was the Ministry that Malachi worked for. At first, Adrian was not so fond of the idea, however, after a decade, he warmed up to the idea. His only requirement was that he was allowed to still participate in muggle warfare and work alongside the mercenary group as he had done so for the First World War.
<p>
The year 1939 signaled the start of World War II, and Alucard was called in to officially join the war, his main target: all of Nazi Germany. With the order to create panic and unrest, he was unleashed on the German nation. Once that war ended, it was only another five years before a new war popped up, this time in the country of Korea. Adrian realized that with the changes of time came the changes of war, and while he still had his father’s and his own sword in his possession, the world did not necessarily fight with blades any longer. Just as his father had worn full-body armor, Adrian wore bulletproof clothing. After the Korean War, Adrian disappeared, leaving one of his dog tags at the site of an explosion, faking his own death – at least to the members of the mercenary group and to Wilhelm, who had become the leader of the group. To the Ministry, though, he was still alive and well, and he was finding that while he wasn’t fond of being anyone’s bitch, at least his leash had some length to it.
<p>
Nepal, the place where Adrian had run off to after faking his death, turned out to be one of his favorite countries, and he lived there for forty years before a civil war broke out. Immediately, he joined the war and hoped it wouldn’t last long. He had seen what war could do to a country and her people, and he didn’t want that happening to Nepal. Although it lasted ten years, the Nepalese Civil War still qualified as one of the shorter wars that Adrian had been in. The government of the country ended up winning the war, and Adrian stuck around for a handful of years helping the nation rebuild.
<p>
During the time he was in Nepal, the entire world looked on in awe as terrorism hit the United States, which had been one of the contributing nations and highest bidders in his short-lived contract with . Deciding to move to the United Kingdom (after all, he was pretty sure that anyone he’d dealt with concerning the wizarding mercenary group was either retired or dead, and he knew for a fact that Wilhelm had died many years prior in a dueling gone wrong), Adrian set up several ‘houses’ across the nation, typically custom built or specifically modified for his needs. His money invested in stocks and various other companies, with plenty in reserve. After all, eight hundred years of fighting for the highest bidder meant an abundance of funds both magical and muggle alike.

<h1>CONNECTIONS</h1>
Name and Bloodline - I definitely took some creative liberties here with his name, as this is not canon!Alucard’s name in the show. Another thing that differs between canon!Alucard and bomb!Alucard is that in canon, he is Vlad Tepes III or Vlad III Dracula. However, I didn’t want to make it completely solid that bomb!Alucard is Dracula because there is the chance for someone to come along and app an animated Dracula and I didn’t want to mess with that.
<p>
History - Most of this is fabricated by yours truly, however there are some aspects of it that stay true to canon. In Hellsing Ultimate, when you finally get to learn about Alucard’s backstory, it’s a pretty gut wrenching tale about how he was basically enslaved as a child by the Ottomans and sodomized repeatedly. I translated this to be the incident that happened when he was sixteen. In canon, Alucard is a servant of the Hellsing company, and I wanted to portray that a bit here, so I affiliated Adrian with first a private mercenary group then the Ministry in the early 1900s. Him being unleashed on Nazi Germany is a throwback to his canon source, where the main antagonist is the Millenium Organization, which is a Nazi German group.
<p>
Wandlore - Ahhh this was difficult. I chose Blackthorne because it’s supposedly known to be a bit darker than most woods and I thought that fit Adrian nicely. Thestral tail hair because canon!Alucard is a demon vampire thing and thestrals are demon death horses or something along those lines. I also included that he has a tendency to not use his wand when doing magic and prefers to use his ‘outbursts’ to his own advantage. His genetics, because he’s a hybrid, are pretty wonky and I would think that his ability to do reliable magic would be just as wonky.
<p>
Patronus - My reasoning behind picking the thestral to be his patronus is the same for why the beast’s tail hair is his wand core. Canon!Alucard is a freaky demon vampire and thestrals are demon death horses.

Because Dhampirs are more rare than full-blood or bitten Vampires, very few are able to tell what Adrian is at first glance. Some have to do extensive amounts of research to discover what he is, and others have to know the history of his kind before being able to know what he is.

<h2>FRIENDS</h2>
Adrian has more acquaintances than he does friends, mostly because he typically outlives most of the people he surrounds himself with. If you’ve got an idea, though, lemme know and we can hash things out.
<p>
<h2>LOVERS</h2>
Lovers come, and lovers go. Most of the women that Adrian has bedded ironically ended up dead, either because of Adrian himself or age. His preference towards hooking up with human women most likely stems from his own origins, being the product of quite the Unholy union himself. He wouldn’t admit to this on his own accord, of course, because that would be just another way he’s like his father.
<p>
<h2>ENEMIES</h2>
Considering that there are several individuals that would consider him to be an abomination, there are probably a few that would like to see his existence erased. He’s made several enemies over the years. He’s always in need of a good scuffle, so hit me up!
